behind the beat that drives my soul…

Tony Nuccio (”Nuccio”) wants to bring a truly global flavor to today’s dance club culture that transcends borders, real or imagined.

Nuccio’s roots, as a young DJ, stem from his love of turntabilism when, at age15, he began working private parties and live mix shows. Although Nuccio hung up his hip-hop headphones to focus on his university studies, his interest as a DJ resurfaced and a newfound appreciation for the craft emerged. At the age of 19, Nuccio traveled throughout Europe and North America, taking in the energy and culture of many dance venues in different countries, as well as the unmistakable vibe of circuit parties — Montreal’s Black and Blue as the first in a string of many international circuit parties to follow. Nuccio’s love for club music was fully rejuvenated, but this time for a different genre, Dance. Nuccio was moved by the ‘peak hour’ of the circuit and the energetic tribal sounds along with live performances by underground artists like Vernessa Mitchell, Inaya Day, and Kim English.

The dimensions of Nuccio’s exposure to dance music expanded immensely when his studies took him across the pond to live in London’s inimitable “DTPM-funky” and “Trade-crunchy” club scene. While abroad, Nuccio traveled extensively throughout England, Italy, Spain, Greece & Turkey and notably had the opportunity to live in Barcelona, nearby Ibiza’s “Iberican” sound.

Nuccio appreciates the origins of neo-soul and the spiritual power of gospel music — both signature influences on his sound today. Nuccio pays homage to the spiritual roots of music, yet he also bridges past and future with an ear for emerging artists.

Nuccio’s musical tastes took yet another spin when he briefly lived in Asia and floated through the watering holes of Thailand, India and Taiwan. Nuccio found himself once again inspired but this time by new Asian dance beats and especially by experiencing the haunting echoes of Eastern monastic chants.

For Nuccio, music is more than just a sound or a journey; it’s really a spiritual experience.

His reorganization of anthems layered over percussions, tropical sounds, spiritual connotations and mashed-up in funky “Shelter” soul are some of the many ways Nuccio shares his world, and the Lost and Found journey to finding inner soul.
